I don’t understand why people are obsessing over this. The boy’s life was in danger. Are there not more Gorillas in the world? People are acting as if this animal is a human. The animal does not need justice after dragging a helpless three year old boy around after an unfortunately falling into the exhibit. What if that kid died? What if you were that child in that situation? I’m sure people would think otherwise.

Same thing happened in Chile, 2 lions were shot dead after a suicidal man entered their cage, and people were wishing death for the man. Yes it is sad that an animal had to die because human stupidity but it is a human after all.

You’re treating the Gorilla as if it were a human by acting like it has the mental capacity to understand “I shouldn’t drag this small child around”

He was taken out of his natural habitat, and put into an artificial version of it, which by extension makes that enclosure his new habitat and his territory. The kid obviously didn’t know better, but his parents should have and should’ve kept a better eye on him. But I digress... in no way was the animal at fault, and he sure as shit shouldn’t have been killed for that.

So they should have sacrificed the kid so the gorilla could live?

You’re treating the Gorilla as if it were a human...

That’s not what I’m saying at all, I’m saying the exact opposite. I never said that the Gorilla had a conscience of right or wrong either. I’m just saying that the authorities had no choice to protect the child by taking the animal’s life. I never said the animal was “at fault”, in fact, I never said anyone was at fault. I agree that his parents should’ve kept a better eye on him, but everyone is taking this to an extreme. Imagine the mother with her dead child, and the gorilla is fine. That would be upsetting. The zoo could always get a new animal, but that child is not replacable as a soul.

There aren’t that many of that type of gorilla in the world.

A gorilla was killed because a kid fell into its enclosure. Sure, the gorilla wasn’t a human, but that doesn't make it somehow less sad that it was killed.

Yes, it is sad when any animal dies. This was just an unfortunate accident that resulted. (gorilla’s aren’t going extinct yet, you know)
